Jubo Dal leader in Laxmipur killed

A local Jubo Dal leader was shot dead by rivals over establishing supremacy at Kashipur village in  Sadar upazila early yesterday.
Identified as Mohammad Selim, the deceased was president of Kashipur ward unit Jubo Dal.
Police and locals said, there was a longstanding dispute between Selim and Ibrahim Hossain Ratan of the area over establishing supremacy.
As a sequel to previous enmity, Ratan's gang, known as  'Ratan Bahini' swooped on Selim and sprayed bullets on him indiscriminately, leaving him injured at 12:30am on Saturday.
Critically injured Selim was first admitted to Laxmipur Sadar hospital and later shifted to Noakhali General Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
Selim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital at about 3.30am.
Selim's relative Tofayel Ahmed said Ratan and his accomplices killed Selim in a pre-planned way.
In-charge of Dattapara police camp Noor Nabi said the body was taken to Noakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
