JP mulls new political alliance
Jatiya Party, a component of Awami League-led grand alliance, mulls to form a separate political alliance with different Islamic and like-minded parties to contest the next general polls.
"We will take those political parties, who have faith in Islamic values and democratic norms, with us. The process (to form the alliance) has already started," said the party Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader.
The newly formed alliance led by JP might contest the next national election, he said while briefing reporters after the presidium meeting at the party's Banani office yesterday.
Replying to a question, he said there was no division in the party. "All of us have faith to our chairman and we will obey all the decisions taken by him [chairman]," he said.
JP Chairman HM Ershad and its 35 presidium members attended the meeting.
