Journo Gautam murder case judgment June 27
A Dhaka court will deliver its judgment on June 27 against nine accused in journalist Gautam Das murder case.
Faridpur bureau chief of the daily Samakal, Gautam Das, 30, was brutally killed at his office on November 17, 2005.
After completion of arguments from the prosecution and the defence, the court yesterday set the date to deliver the judgment.
The accused are Asif Imran, Asif Imtiaz Bulu, Zahid Khan, Kamrul Islam Apon, Asad Bin Kadir, Siddiqur Rahman Miah, Tamjid Hossain Babu, Rajib Hassan Miah and Abu Taher Mohammad Mortuza Ahsan also known as Appollo Biswas.
The court cancelled bails of seven accused, now on a High Court bail, and ordered to send them to jail.
The court also cancelled bail of another accused Appollo Biswas and issued an arrest warrant against him as he was absent yesterday.
Accused Asif Imran has been in jail custody for long.
Earlier, the court recorded statements of 27 prosecution witnesses.
The case was stayed for a long time following an HC order.
The court framed charges against the accused on August 15, 2006.
Investigation officer of the case pressed charges against 10 people on January 19, 2006, showing 31 people as prosecution witnesses.
