Jamaat calls hartal in Cox's Bazar Sunday
Jamaat-e-Islami has called an eight-hour hartal (shutdown) in Cox's Bazar for Sunday demanding immediate release of its ameer of Sadar upazila unit.
Shafiur Haque was arrested from his residence in Cox's Bazar town Friday noon for his alleged involvement with the killings of three people in a clash on February 15.
GM Rahim Ullah, secretary of district Jamaat, informed reporters about the shutdown through mobile text messages, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent.
On February 15, at least three activists of Jamaat and its student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, were killed and 50 others, including a few policemen, were injured during a gunfight between Jamaat-Shibir men and police in Cox's Bazar town.
