Indian state firms raise petrol price
India's state-run oil firms Thursday increased the price of petrol and diesel by one rupee (two US cents) per litre following a rise in global oil prices, officials said. The price of petrol has increased to 29.93 rupees per litre, while diesel was raised to 19.07 rupees per litre.
India imports more than 70 per cent of its oil.
In March 2002, the government dismantled a state-controlled oil price regime, leaving state firms to fix the prices of imported oil.
