Ilias Ali's name dropped from charge sheet

Dropping the name of "disappeared" former BNP lawmaker Ilias Ali, police on Wednesday submitted a charge sheet to Sylhet Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in two cases over extortion and explosives.
The accused are Biswanath upazila BNP activists Sohel Ahmed Chopwdhury, Kalamdar Ali, and Azad Nur; and around 16 others unnamed.
Awami League leader Basharat filed the cases on April 18 alleging that Ilias and other BNP activists demanded Tk 50,000 from his restaurant on October 10, 2001 during post-polls violence.
On refusal, they fired gunshots and exploded crackers.
