Hearing on formal charges against Mir Quasem adjourned
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 yesterday adjourned hearing on formal charges against war crimes accused Mir Quasem Ali until July 18.
Justice ATM Fazle Kabir, chairman of the tribunal-1, adjourned the proceeding following a petition by the defence.
Defence counsel Mizanul Islam told the tribunal that they could not complete preparations as some of the documents provided by the prosecution were not readable. He sought adjournment for eight weeks.
Prosecutor Zead Al Malum prayed to the tribunal to allow only one week.
NIZAMI'S CASE
Yesterday, the defence completed cross-examining the 11th prosecution witness, Shamsul Haque, in the war crimes case against Motiur Rahman Nizami.
Shamsul said he found Nizami as chief of Al-Badr, an auxiliary force of the occupation Pakistani army, in newspapers in 1971. The proceeding was adjourned till July 7.
