Guardianship Act to be amended
The 'Guardianship Act' will be amended with a view to protecting the rights of women. Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Moudud Ahmed said this while speaking at a seminar as chief guest yesterday, says a press release. He said that it would be easier to bring amendments to the act when the rights of a mother can be defined clearly.
And that would be possible if equal rights of father and mother are established in the family, Moudud added.
The Naripakkha organised the seminar on "Women's Rights to Guardianship" at CIRDAP auditorium in the city.
Advocate Sigma Huda, woman leader Maleka Begum and Donai Pru Neli of Bandarban took part in the discussion while Ferdous Azim presided.
Leaders and activists of different women organisations, journalists and lawyers attended the seminar.
