Green University organised Seminar on National Budget
Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) organised a seminar on 'Reflections on National Budget 2013-14' on June 15, 2013 at its campus. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Golam Samdani Fakir presided over the programme while Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank was the chief guest and Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, distinguished fellow of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) was the guest of honor. The programme was organised by the MBA Forum of GUB. Professor Dr Md Abdul Hannan Mia, Adviser of the Faculty of Business Studies, delivered the welcome speech. In the national budget 2013-2014, the education sector gets the third largest allocation, but the percentage of the allocation declines 11.3 percent which was 14.3 in the revised budget of 2009-10 fiscal year. The seminar observed that the allocation in the education sector is declining whereas the sector has witnessed a rapid growth with the increase of students, teachers and institutions. The seminar further observed that the rate of inflation is increasing which deserves larger allocation for the education sector.
Treasurer, Md Shahid Ullah, Dean of Law Faculty, Professor Dr M Rabiul Hossain, Dean of Science and Engineering Faculty, Professor Dr Engineer Md Saifur Rahman, Registrar, Lt Col Md Ali Ambial Haque Khan (Retired), Controller of Examinations Professor SMK Nazmul Haque, Chairmen of all the departments, faculty members and students were present in the seminar.
