Govt trying to split BNP: Fakhrul
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday alleged that the government had been hatching a conspiracy to split the opposition BNP.
He urged the party leaders and activists to be more conscious about all of government's conspiracies and to resist those.
He made the remarks while addressing an extended meeting of BNP's front organisation Swechchhasebak Dal at a hotel in the capital where he asked the party leaders to give more attention to the anti-government movement for restoration of the caretaker government system.
"It's not the time for thinking about nomination for the election, our first duty is to oust the government and then we can think about nomination," said Fakhrul.
He also accused the ruling Awami League of trying to keep the BNP from the election. "This is why the government has removed the caretaker government provision through a constitutional amendment."
