Govt to encourage quality health care service
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain yesterday said the government is taking steps to encourage quality health care service and ensure its standard in the private sector.
He said this while presiding over a meeting at ministry to discuss the law on private health service.
Dr Mosharraf said proper application of the law regulating health service in the private sector can ensure improved treatment and reduce tendency of the patients to go abroad.
"There is enough scope for the promotion of health care in the private sector and there are entrepreneurs to offer quality health service," he said.
He said a big chunk of the people of the country receive treatment in private clinics and hospitals.
He said better health service can be provided to the people by modernising these health service centres.
Health Secretary Muhammad Fazlur Rahman, Director General of Health Directorate Prof. Mijanur Rahman, Director General of Family Planning Directorate M Fazlur Rahman, Secretary General of BMA Dr A Z M Zahid Hossain, senior officials of the ministry and representatives of Private Medical Practitioners' Association and Private Clinic and Diagnostic Association attended the meeting.
