Govt firm to set up society free from corruption
BOGRA, Jan 14: State Minister for Information Professor Abu Sayeed today said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is committed to establishing a corruption-free social system by ensuring a transparent and accountable administration, reports BSS.
He was delivering the presidential address at a District Disaster Management and Coordination Committee meeting at Bogra district circuit house here.
Awami League leaders Md Abdul Mannan, Md Momtazuddin, Ferdous Jamal Mukul and Deputy Commissioner Shamsul Haque also spoke on the occasion.
The minister said: "The present government is committed to materialising the dream of Sonar Bangla of the Bangabandhu for eradicating poverty, terrorism, illiteracy, building rural infrastructure, ensuring food, health, education and shelter for all."
A resume of the government programmes under the fiscal 1999-2000 was given at the meeting.
Prof Sayeed said anti-democracy and anti-liberation forces have resorted to destructive activities to stop the wheel of progress.
He called upon the pro-liberation forces to join hands to resist the undemocratic forces.
