Gonojagoron Mancha urges quick hearing
A five-member delegation from Gonojagoron Mancha on Wednesday submitted a memorandum at the attorney general's office in the capital for holding the hearings on the appeals over war crimes verdicts in Appellate Division of the Supreme Court during its vacation.
The Gonojagoron Mancha, a platform of youths demanding the capital punishment for all war criminals, has placed their demand for quick disposal of the appeals.
The Appellate Division is now dealing with the appeals filed over the conviction of Quader Mollah, Delawar Hossain Sayedee and Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.
The SC will go on vacation for 49 days starting from August 2.
The five-member delegation led by Imran H Sarker, convener of the Mancha, submitted the memorandum to the office of Attorney General Mahbubey Alam around 2:30pm Wednesday.
Before submitting the memorandum, the team around 11:30am went to submit the memorandum to the chief justice but they failed to do so as police resisted them at Doyel Chattar, said Imran said.
