Gonojagoron Mancha gets Jahanara Imam Memorial Award

Gonojagoron Mancha, Barrister M Amirul Islam and former chief justice ABM Khairul Haque were presented with this year's Jahanara Imam Memorial Award yesterday.
The awarding ceremony was held at a memorial meeting marking Jahanara Imam's 19th death anniversary, organised by Ekatturer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, in the capital's Women's Voluntary Association auditorium.
The mancha spokesperson Dr Imran H Sarker received the award on behalf of the youth-led movement.
Prof Borhanuddin Khan Jahangir handed over the awards, and ABM Khairul Haque presented the memorial speech while noted war crimes researcher Shahriar Kabir, eminent historian Muntassir Mamoon, Barrister Tania Amir and Shaheedjaya Shyamoli Nasrin Chowdhury also spoke at the event.
Different socio-cultural organisations paid tributes to Jahanara Imam by placing wreaths at her portrait in Shahbagh, and in the evening cultural activists rendered songs and lit candles.
