RUGBY
Narail DSA emerged champions after beating Munshiganj 31-21 in the final at the Mohammadpur Physical Educational College ground yesterday.
Dhaka won the bronze medal with a 28-14 win over Sirajganj in the place-deciding match at the same venue.
CYCLING
Eight gold medals were decided on the second day with Border Guard Bangladesh creating a new national record in men's 1200m Olympic Sprint at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.
BGB comprising Ripon Kumar, Monwar Hossain and Sirajul Islam took 1:43.26 minutes to erase the previous record of 1:43.28 minutes.
Tariqul Islam, who skipped the 40km mass start on opening day in fear of being arrested, returned to the track and won his first gold in elimination race after beating Alamgir Hossain of BJMC.
The feat of Tariqul helped Bangladesh Ansar win five gold on the second day followed by BJMC's two and BGB's one gold.
WRESTLING
The Bangladesh Policed ruled the first day after winning three gold out of seven decided yesterday at the National Handball Stadium as Rafiqul Islam, Lovely Akter and Hasina grabbed gold in their respective categories.
Border Guard Bangladesh and Bangladesh Ansar grabbed two gold each while Narail DSA won the rest of the gold of the day.
BASKETBALL
Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Navy moved into the final beating their respective rivals at the Dhanmondi Basketball Gymnasium yesterday.
Army beat Khulna 109-66 while Navy beat Border Guard Bangladesh 99-69 to advance to the final to be held today.
BOXING
SA Games gold medallists Abdur Rahim and Jewel Ahmed were eliminated from the quarterfinals at the Mohammad Ali Boxing Stadium yesterday.
Rahim of Bangladesh Army lost to Sur Krishna Chakma of Railway in 69kg category while Jewel Ahmed of Bangladesh Ansar lost to Al Amin of Bangladesh Army in 64kg category bout in which some tension broke out between the officials of Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Ansar. Jewel alleged that he was forced to lose the game through an arranged judgment.
