FTL: Faster Than Light
If you have an exam right around the corner or an important meeting the next day, don't start this game. 'FTL: Faster Than Light' is one of the most addictive games released in late 2012.
The game involves you as the commander of a spaceship; unlike games such as 'Wing Commander' or 'Freelancer', you don't control the ship in an open world environment. It's more of a turn-based meets real-time meets role-playing sort of a game. You have different parts of the ship which the developers over simplified for our sake. You assign crews, power levels and weapons to different parts of the ship. These assignments are what set the novice and the advanced players apart. Your main aim is to cross each sector and reach your final destination. Jumping from one sector to another requires fuel and in most cases, each sector will incur one event. These events range from duels, rescue missions to even experiments.
The graphics of the game are kept simple but they aren't ignored. You'll feel at home with the care the designers put into the art. If you're one of those gamers who play just for the sake of heating their GPUs, this game is NOT for you. For those of you, who enjoy a nice little game which can be paused at leisure with a cup of coffee in hand, try this out. Being Captain Kirk is just a click away.
