From action to actor
Most people remember Hollywood star Jackie Chan for his action films, but that's not how he says he would like to be recalled by posterity. According to him, he should be remembered first and foremost as a prolific actor.
Now in Delhi for a Chinese film festival, Chan told the media on Tuesday that he wanted to move away from his action star image to be known as an actor.
“I want to be the Asian Robert De Niro or Al Pacino. I used to enjoy action but now I enjoy acting; the life of an action star is really short, but you can act till you are 80,” he said.
“Actually, I'm a very good actor and not do just fight, fight and fight”, he added amidst laughter from journalists.
Chan says Hollywood's biggest action hero Sylvester Stallone is someone who has influenced him immensely. “Stallone struggled hard to make Rocky movies and I think all the action stars are influence by this film. He is the reason I came to Hollywood,” said Chan. who is likely to star in Stallone's next venture, “Expendables 3”.
Replying to a question, Chan said he would love to do Bollywood films and is fond of singing, but the only problem is that he can't dance and shake his head. The actor said he was looking forward to see India and China cooperating in film production as together they would make the world's biggest market.
“Today, China is the second biggest film market in the world; in the next few years, it would be the biggest. Same thing is with Bollywood. India is going to be a big market soon and when you are a big market, everybody is coming to you, trying to understand your culture... it is a chain”, he said.
