Freedom fighters march procession with sticks
Hundreds of people under the banner of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad held a "lathi (stick) procession" in the capital Thursday morning demanding capital punishment of all war criminals.
Around 700 people wielding sticks started to march towards Jatiya Press Club from Muktangan around 11:00am defying the shutdown enforced by Islami Chhatra Shibir, a student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami.
The marchers, including freedom fighters and leaders and activists of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command Council, ended the procession around 11:30am on the press club premises where they held a rally also.
During the procession, the people chanted slogans "Razakar er hartal mani na manbo na (We do not accept Razakar's shutdown)," and "Jamaat, Shibir er hartal mani na manbo na (We do accept shutdown called by Jamaat-Shibir)".
The processionists were holding national flags and the organisation's flags during the procession.
