Former ASP held on charge of anti-state activities

Police arrested a former Assistant Superintendent of Police on charge of anti-state activities. Police picked up Niranjan Palit from his Patharghata residence in the city Saturday night. Niranjan was produced before the CMM court yesterday and later sent to jail hajot after the court rejected police's prayer for remand.

A senior officer of Chittagong Metropolitan Police said police headquarters on a secret report ordered the arrest of Niranjan. He was sent into forced retirement last year.
