Five kids drown in Pabna, Comilla

Five children drowned in ponds in Pabna and Comilla districts on Eid day and on Saturday.
Three children of a family drowned in a pond at Khalilpur village in Sujanagar upazila of Pabna on Friday morning, reports our correspondent.
The deceased are cousins Rohan Sheikh, 4, son of Liton Sheikh; Omi, 8, son of Golam Sheikh; and Sumaiya, 7, daughter of Tutul Sheikh of the village.
Shahidul Islam, Inspector (investigation) at Sujanagr police station, quoting family members said, the three kids fell into a pond near their houses. They went there to pluck water lily around 10:00am on Eid day.
In Comilla, two cousins drowned in a pond at Dhalua village in Nangalkot upazila on Saturday, reports our correspondent.
The kids were identified as Farzana Akhter Popy, 13, a student of class seven and daughter of Saidul Haque and Tania Akhter, 11, of class five and daughter of Serajul Haque.
Locals said, Popy and Tania came to their grandfather's house from Feni to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr. They went to the pond to take a dip but drowned as they did not know how to swim.
