Five drown

Five people, including a child, drowned in three districts on Tuesday and the day before.
A worker of Awami League (AL) drowned in Bansai river at Mirzapur upazila of Tangail on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mir Imran Hossain Shimul, 38, a member of Gorai union unit AL and son of Mirzapur upazila parishad chairman Mir Enayet Hossain Montu, reports our correspondent.
Family sources said Shimul went missing after going for swimming in the river in Hatubhanga area in the morning.
His floating body was recovered at Palashtoli, two kilometres away from the spot, they added.
In Sirajganj, a housewife and a six-year old girl drowned at two villages in Shahjadpur upazila on Tuesday.
Housewife Nayantara, 28, drowned in a pond at Shaktipur of the upazila in the afternoon. She was wife of Chan Mia of the village, reports our correspondent.
Her family members said Nayantara fell into the pond of their house while taking bath and drowned.
On the other hand, Rashida, 6, daughter of Shital Pramanik of Raotara village in the same upazila, drowned in a pond while playing near it in the evening.
Later, her family members recovered the body.
In Manikganj, a farmer drowned in a pond at Baimail village in Singair upazila on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Intaj Uddin, 35, son of Noya Mia of the village.
