Father, son killed in Brahmanbaria
A man and his son died on Wednesday, a day after they were injured in an attack by their neighbour over a land dispute in Akhaura upazila of Brahmanbaria.
Golap Khan, 75, and his son Ismail, 25, succumbed to their injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said Md Jahidul Islam, additional superintendent of Police in Brahmanbaria.
There had been a long-standing conflict between Golap and his neighbour Rusmot Ali over the boundaries of their houses at Gulkhar village in the upazila.
A group of people led by Rusmot attacked Golap, Ismail and their associates with sharp weapons around 8:45pm Tuesday when they were returning from arbitration, which was held to settle the dispute over the boundaries, the additional superintendent said.
Golap, Ismail and eight of their people were injured during the attack, he said.
Ismail and his father were rushed to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital from where they were shifted to DMCH in deteriorating conditions, he added.
The other injured were admitted at Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital and Combined Military Hospital in Comilla.
A case was filed Wednesday morning and additional law enforces have been deployed in the area to avert any untoward incident.
