Employees may submit anonymous “reviews” of companies to the website which carried out the survey, Glassdoor.
It uses these responses to compile its well-respected annual Employees' Choice Awards.

The company came third in the 2012 rankings.
Table football, an annual video game day and ping pong are some of the ways its employees can keep themselves entertained. Each new parent at the company gets $4,000 in spending money, the New York Times reported.
One contributor wrote of Facebook on Glassdoor: “The atmosphere is amazing. Everyone pulling together to help the company achieve goals we all believe in, while being incredibly open, down-to-earth and helpful about it.”
Google, which allowed its workers “20 per cent time” to work on their own projects, offers its staff free meals and access to gyms. “Googlers” may take their pets to work with them.
Riverbed, an IT systems company with its headquarters in San Francisco, was placed third in the list. LinkedIn, the social network for professionals, is the fourteenth best company to work for according to the survey.
National Instruments, a systems company with an office in Newbury, Berkshire, came eighth.
Other technology companies that featured in the top 20 were Akamai, Rackspace, Gartner and Workday.
Glassdoor allows users to submit their overall impressions of working for a company, as well as salary, job perks and details about the job application process.
