Extortionists attack shopkeepers in Feni: 10 injured

Ten people were injured in an attack on shopkeepers as they barricaded Feni-Parashuram road near Munshirhat Bazaar in Phoolgazi upazila yesterday in protest against extortion.

Witnesses said the shopkeepers blocked the road as a group of extortionists, including some BNP activists, demanded Tk 50,000 from Chandan Banik, a jewellery shop owner at the bazaar.

At one stage, the extortionists attacked the shopkeepers, exploding bombs leaving the 10 injured. Four shops were damaged and looted during the attack. Two of the injured were admitted to sadar hospital.
