'Edn system has undergone a big change'
Speakers at a seminar yesterday said the education system has undergone a big change due to the rapid changes in the information and communication technology.
They said one could not imagine to study in computer science or IT related subjects several decades ago, but IT has now become one of the most important studies around the world.
The City University organised the seminar on 'Educational institutes in the 21st century' at the auditorium of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) in the city.
The speakers said the rapid change of education system would be the constant partner of the generation in the new century.
They also called on the private universities to provide better education to attract the students.
They, however, admitted that most of the private universities are starting activities with only some market-oriented disciplines.
Prof. Dr. Steven Poulos, University of California, Prof. Client Seeley, University of Chicago, Prof. Charles H. Kennedy of Wake Forest University, Dr. Mohammad Rashiduzzaman, Rowan University, USA, and Prof. Dr. Sayedur Rahman, American Institute of Bangladesh, USA, took part in the seminar.
Prof. Shamsul Haque, vice-chancellor of City University (CU), Dr. Mizanur Rahman Shelly, chief adviser of CU, Hossain Khaled, vice-chairman and Anwar Hossain, chairman, boards of directors, CU were also present.
