Don't intervene in GB's activities
Speakers at a meeting the capital yesterday urged the government not to intervene in the activities of Grameen Bank (GB).
With Nagorik Oikko Convener Mahmudur Rahman in the chair, they were addressing the meeting organised by the civil society platform at its head office at Topkhana.
They came up with the observation a day after Prof Yunus said people will not let the government split GB.
Grameen Bank is the only private institution in the world to win the Nobel Prize and the people will not tolerate any move to split it into 19 entities, Yunus said while addressing a reception accorded to him on his winning the Congressional Gold Medal from the United States.
Nobel Joyee Yunus Shuhrid organised the event at the Chittagong centre of Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh on Thursday.
