Death anniversary

Today is the 17th death anniversary of renowned litterateur and politician of Chittagong Prof Ashab Uddin Ahmad.
He was a member of the East Bengal Provincial Assembly in 1954. He led the Language Movement in Comilla when he was a professor of Comilla Victoria College.
His noted literary works include Dhar, Sher Ek Ana Matro, Badoler Dhara Jhore Jhor Jhor, Dam Sashon Desh Sashon, Ghush, and Ashab Uddin Rochona Somogro (volume 3).
He was also the founder of several educational institutions in Chittagong, including Chittagong Government City College, Banshkhali College and Sadhonpur Palli High School.
Prof Ashab was born in 1914 at Sadhonpur village in Banshkhali of Chittagong, said a press release.
