DCC crackdown on illegal rickshaws
The Dhaka City Corporation yesterday issued a warning against plying of unauthorised rickshaw, encroachment on footpath and disposal of gar-bage on roads.
The DCC mobile courts are on the streets to swoop on unauthorised rickshaws plying the city roads. The drive has been accelerated recently, said a press release.
The owners and rickshawpullers have been asked to keep licenses and necessary documents at their disposal, otherwise legal actions would be taken against them, it warned.
The DCC has also launched a campaign against encroachment on footpath by stock piling construction materials. It warned that if any construction materials were found on the roadside and on footpath the materials would be confiscated and legal actions would be taken against the owners.
The corporation requested the citizens to keep garbage on DCC dustbins or containers between 6pm and 10pm. Disposal of garbage on the roads during the day is illegal and a criminal offence. The corporation would take legal action against those found to have committed the offence, the release added.
