DCC allots 15 cattle markets on Eid-ul Azha

The Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) yesterday announced allotment of 15 temporary markets in the city for sacrificial animals for the Eid-ul Azha.

This year there will be no market at three places including Karwan Bazar and Brother's Club filed. The DCC took the decision considering appeals by people of those areas, its Chief Estate Officer Shamsuzzoha told The Daily Star last night.

Instead of Karwan Baazar, there may be a market at the field beside Shundarban Hotel in the area, if necessary. Bidding for the market will be held later.

The spots for the 15 markets include Naya Bazar, Hoseni Dalan Road, Azimpur Orphanage, Merul Katcha Bazar, Khilkhet Tanpara, Jhigatala, Hazaribagh, Meradia, Golapbagh field, Rahamatganj field, Dhupkhola park, Dholaikhal, Postagola Alam Market and Azampur in Uttara.

This year the DCC earned Tk one corer five lakh against last year's Tk 72 lakh by leasing the market places.
