Cultural activists held rally in Ctg for the release of intellectuals

The cultural activists of the port city have demanded immediate release of all intellectuals and journalists including Enamul Haq, Salim Samad and Ahkamullah.

They made the demand at a protest rally held at the local press club on Monday afternoon.

The cultural activists of Chittagong under the banner of _'Chattagramer Sarbostorer Sangskritik Karmibrindo' (All cultural activists of Chittagong) organised the protest rally.

Presided over by Abul Momen, resident editor of Prothom Alo, the rally was conducted by Soymen Rudra.

Shafiul Alam, president of Chittagong Lawyers' Association, Advocate Rana Das Gupta, Prof Hossain Kabir, Abdul Halim Dhobash, Rashed Hasan, Showkat Iqbal and Sucharita Das spoke on the occasion.

They said the country is passing through a critical period and members of the civil society should be united to overcome the crisis.

"When the representatives of the civil society put the real situation of the country before the general people, they can see the real face of the government", the speakers added.
