CUJA election today
Election of Chittagong University Journalists Association (CUJA) will be held today.
Voting will be held for three posts of the executive body as candidates for four other posts have already been elected unopposed.
Rubel Khan of daily Ajker Kagoj and Arif Miah of BSS are contesting for the post of president while Khalilur Rahman of daily Ittefaq and Sujoy Mohajon of daily Purbokone for the post of general secretary.
Dulal Mahmud and Jafar Iqbal are contesting for the post of office secretary.
Voting will be held at the proctor office from 10.00am to 1.00pm. A total of 24 voters will exercise their franchise.
Office-bearers elected unopposed are: Abdus Sabur, vice president, Modhul Kabir, joint secretary, Ehsan Jewel, treasurer and Sarwar Jahan Sumon executive member.
Meanwhile, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the CUJA was held at its office at CUCSU building on the campus yesterday.
Former pro-vice-chancellor of the university Prof Dr Abu Yousuf Alam attended the meeting as chief guest while proctor Prof Mujibur Rahman as special guest.
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) President Mahbub Elahi, Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) President Didarul Alam Mojumder, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) President Md Selim and Bangladesh Chhatra Union (BCU) President Ripayan Barua were also present at the meeting.
