CU VC asks employees to resume duties
CHITTAGONG, Jan 29: The Chittagong University (CU) Vice-Chancellor sat in a meeting with Chittagong University Employees' Association (CUEA) and Chittagong University Officers' Association (CUOA) in his office today to discuss immediate reopening of the university.
VC Professor Abdul Mannan urged the employees to join their respective duties regularly ignoring all kinds of obstruction. He said that to resume the normal activities of the university, the cooperation of all employees is essential. He also assured that security measures will be taken for them.
Meanwhile, today was the fifteenth day of Shibir enforced indefinite siege progamme on the CU campus. Academic activities are disrupted because of the siege but administrative activities are being held partially. More than 60 per cent teachers and employees attended today but no shuttle train or bus plied between campus and the city.
Islami Chhatra Shibir is enforcing a siege on the campus, to protest the killing of two of its activists in a clash with Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the campus on December 19 last year.
