Ctg court orders arrest of railway official Mridha
A Chittagong court yesterday ordered the arrest of suspended Bangladesh Railway (east) general manager (GM) Yusuf Ali Mridha and seven other people in two cases filed on charges of corruption in recruitment to different posts of the railway.
Metropolitan Senior Special Judge SM Mojibur Rahman passed the order after accepting the charge sheets. The court also fixed November 21 for next hearing, said court sources.
The other accused are BR Welfare Officers Golam Kibria and Hafijur Rahman and illegally recruited candidates Abul Kasem, Anisur Rahman, Ganesh Chandra Shil, Sultana Begum and Jahirul Islam.
On September 13, 2012, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the cases with Kotwali Police Station accusing Mridha and the others for their allegedly committing irregularities in recruitment to the posts of fuel checker and assistant chemist of BR.
On October 6, the same court ordered the arrest of Mridha and three others in another case filed by the ACC, and they are now absconding.
