Criminal killed in 'gunfight' with police
A criminal on the most wanted list was killed in a gunfight with police early yesterday in Ujalpur village of Darshana municipality in the Chuadanga district.
The deceased was identified as Billal of Dakshin Chandpur village under the same municipality. The body was sent to the Chuadanga General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Damurhuda Police Station Officer-in-charge Ahsan Habib and Superintendent of Police Mijanur Rahman patrolled the area around 3:00am. As the team reached a mango orchard in the village, Billal and his group opened fire, said police sources. The team answered back with shots, and a gun battle ensued for about an hour.
