Court orders attachment of movable property of Muki, 5 others
The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, Dhaka yesterday (Sunday) accepted the charge-sheet in the Sabequn Nahar Sony murder case.
Magistrate Mamun-Al-Rashid, after scrutinising the case diary (CD) and other documents, issued the order.
The Court also issued arrest warrant against the six absconding accused including Mokammel Hayat Khan Muki and ordered attachment of their movable property.
The Detective Branch (DB) of police submitted the charge-sheet against Jatyatabadi Chhatara Dal (JCD) cadre Mokammel Hayat Khan Muki and 14 others in the Sony murder case on Saturday.
The 14 others are Tagar, Mukul, Mohammad Dulal, Masum Billah, Shooter Nuru, Shaikh Solaiman alias Babul, Hafiz, Nurul Islam alias Sagar, Zakir Hossain Patwari Munna, Tajul Islam Pulak, Aminul Islam, Ahsanul Kari, Shariff Imam and Mahabub Kaisar.
In the charge-sheet, 17 people were shown as prosecution witnesses.
Of the accused, nine including Tagar were arrested earlier while the rest including prime accused Muki have been absconding since the murder. Among them, Tagar, Mukul and Sagar gave confessional statements before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, Dhaka on different dates.
Sony, a student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), was killed on the BUET campus during a gunfight between two factions of Jatyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) on June 8 last year.
BUET Security Officer Golam Kuddus Khan filed a murder case with Lalbagh Police Station saying that Sony died during crossfire when the JCD factions were engaged in gunbattle.
The two factionsone led by Muki and the other by Tagar--locked in the gunfight on the day over establishing dominance on the campus and tender manipulation.
Three sawn-off rifles, some cartridges and bloodstained clothes of the victim were recovered from the campus.
