Two to die

A court here yesterday sentenced two people, including a woman, to death for strangling a woman in Shibganj upazila in 2014.

The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each.

The court acquitted Abul Bashar of Pithalitala village in the upazila.

The convicts are Abdul Mannan, 44, son of Kantu Mondal of Mohonbagan village, and Sufia Begum, 35, daughter of Daud Ali of Shyampur-Chowdhurypara village in Shibganj upazila.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Shawkat Ali pronounced the verdict in presence of Mannan while Sufia is absconding.
