Stepmother sent to jail
Stepmother of the sixth grader Eva has been implicated in a case for assisting criminals to kill the girl after rape.
The accused, Salma Begum was produced before Kalapara Judicial Magistrate's Court with a prayer for seven-day remand on Friday but the court sent her to jail rejecting the prayer, said the sub-inspector (SI) of Mohipur Police Station.
On Tuesday night, Eva, daughter of Ismail Gharamee, was killed after being raped allegedly by four people in their house at Sirajpur village. Salma was at home with her two minor sons, when the incident took place.
On the day, police detained Salma and took her to the police station where she was kept for two days. Police took her there to help in the investigation.
Two days after the murder, police arrested key suspect Kawsar Gharamee, 22, a distant relative of the victim.
“We arrested Salma as primarily we found her involvement in the matter,” said the SI.
