Mother hands over accused son to cop

Setting a unique example of respect for law, a woman handed over her son, accused of stabbing college girl Zannatul Yasmin Zitu in the town, to police on Sunday night.

“Nasrin Alam, mother of the accused, Md Kawsar Alam Avi, 25, went to Sadar Police Station along with her son around 11:00pm on Sunday. She urged police to conduct a proper investigation,” said Sonaton Chakraborty, additional superintendent of police (Bogra Sadar Circle).

“Kawsar admitted to the crime. He will be taken to the court today,” said SM Badiuzzaman, OC of Bogra Sadar Police Station. 

Victim Zitu said, “Kawsar, a vagabond, had been disturbing me with proposal for love and marriage on the way to and from my college and workplace for the last one and a half months. Angered at my refusal, he with his cohorts stabbed me in front of Bogra Coronation High School around 4:00pm on Thursday."

On Saturday, the victim's father Zahidur Rahman of Palsha village of Bogra Sadar upazila filed an attempted murder case with Sadar Police Station against Kawsar and four other unknown youths, said police.
