Kid's body exhumed for autopsy
The body of a 19-month-old boy was exhumed for autopsy yesterday, five days after his burial in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh.
The deceased, Arab Babu, was son of Shahjahan Ali of Ganagach village.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tentulia Police Station Jahurul Islam said Babu's body was found floating in a small ditch at their courtyard on August 7.
Later family members buried the kid hurriedly the same day without informing the police station concerned, he said.
On August 9, Babu's mother Anwara Begum lodged a complaint with the police station accusing Shahjahan's first wife Rupali Akhtar for her alleged involvement in killing the aby, the OC said, adding that police later submitted an application to the district magistrate, seeking permission for an autopsy on the kid's body.
Following a court order on Saturday, Babu's body was exhumed yesterday in presence of Executive Magistrate Subal Chakma and taken to Panchagarh Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
They will take necessary steps after getting the autopsy report in the next couple of days, the OC said.
