Condition of acid victim improves
Condition of acid victim Moinuddin Ahmed, a student of Habiganj Technical School and College, is improving.
He is now undergoing treatment at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), said his brother Abu Sharif.
On the other hand, the accused teacher has landed in jail.
On August 4, chemistry teacher Abdul Qaiyum of the institution allegedly threw acid on Moinuddin in the classroom.
The teacher said he mistook the acid, kept in a glass, for water and threw it on a 15-year-old student to make him stop chanting “we want justice” in the classroom.
Moinuddin, however, said his teacher was really angry and intentionally threw the acid on him.
Rezaul Karim, a physician of Habiganj Sadar Hospital, said Moinuddin was sent to the burn unit of DMCH on Sunday after primary treatment.
Police on Saturday arrested the teacher. The following day, he was sent to jail through a Habiganj court, said Yasinul Haque, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
