College boy beaten dead by schoolboys

A college boy, who was beaten allegedly by a group of schoolboys over a trivial matter on Friday night, died at Haluaghat Upazila Health Complex early yesterday.

The victim, Nafi Al Nazran, 17, son of Nazmul Huda, was a second year student at Gouripur Government Technical School and College.

Police detained Siam, Ayon, Himel and Solaiman, after the victim's father filed a case with Haluaghat Police Station.

Quoting the deceased's family members, police said Mohammad Sumon, a Class X student, allegedly wrote an indecent comment on Nazran's Facebook account on Friday.

Later, Nazran called Sumon and beat up Sumon, OC of Haluaghat Police Station Jahangir Alam said.

As a sequel, an angry Sumon along with some of his classmates beat up Nazran indiscriminately, around 8:00pm. 

Locals rescued Nazran and took him to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries around 4:45am.
