Cops to catch beggars at intersections
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) are taking initiatives to free intersections from beggars to ease the traffic congestion in the city.
"I am determined to free the streets for traffic," the DMP Commissioner Mohammad Ashraful Huda said while talking to a group of journalists at the Telecom Auditorium of Rajarbagh Police Lines yesterday.
The commissioner also said the beggars are defaming Bangladesh to foreigners. A huge number of beggars have occupied the city roads and they roam around the intersections, he added.
"Inform the police if any beggar is found on the intersection of the metropolitan area," he suggested.
"My priority is to reduce the traffic jam, which is also a nuisance, to curb the crime," Huda said.
The commissioner also urged people to assist police to restore law and order in the metropolitan area.
