Climate change key challenge for Asia's dev
Dhaka has identified climate change and natural disasters as the key challenges for sustainable development in Asia and stressed the need for greater collaboration in these sectors.
Foreign Minister Dipu Moni stated this at the 11th Ministerial Meeting of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) concluded in Tajik capital Dushanbe on Friday.
The theme of the two-day long meeting was “Towards economic growth, stability and prosperity in Asia through sustainable development”. She called upon the ACD members to coordinate at international negotiations for elaboration of the Sustainable Development Goals.
She highlighted the “People's Empowerment and Development Model” of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as a valuable input for post-MDG development agenda. She sought support of ACD member states for Bangladesh's candidature for the non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council for the term 2016-17.
