Woman 'kills self' after stabbing landlady

A woman allegedly committed suicide at home after stabbing her landlady in Chittagong city's Baluchara area on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Liza Chowdhury, 24, said police.

Liza lived alone in the tin-roofed house owned by Uttam Barua, said Ataur Rahman Khondakar, officer-in-charge of Bayezid Bostami Police Station.

Liza, who introduced herself as a private job holder to her house owner, had a fight with Uttam's wife Antara Barua, 26, over a trifling matter.

At one stage, Antara asked her to leave the house, said the OC quoting locals. Out of anger, Liza stabbed her indiscriminately around 3:30pm on that day.

Panicking after the incident, Liza rushed to her room and hanged herself from the ceiling fan with a scarf, the OC quoted locals. On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

Antara was undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital, said the OC. They were investigating the incident, he added.
