TV reporter Mamunur Rashid passes away
Mamunur Rashid, a 32-year-old reporter at Ekushey Television, passed away on Monday night.
He was feeling unwell on Monday evening and fell asleep after going to a friend's home at Farmgate in Dhaka. He did not respond when his friend called him for dinner. Friends suspect that he died from cardiac arrest.
Mamun, who used to cover the prime minister beat as a senior reporter, was brought dead at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases around 11:30pm on Monday.
His first namaz-e-janaza was held on ETV premises yesterday. ETV Chief Editor and Chief Executive Officer Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Managing Director Maj Gen (retd) AK Mohammad Ali Shikder, Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif, Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokon and Dhaka Reporters' Unity President Saiful Alam, among others, joined the janaza. Mamun's body was taken to his village home in Narail where he was buried.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader condoled the untimely death.
