Students have shown how movements can be carried out without leaders
Praising students for their movement for safe roads, eminent jurist Dr Kamal Hossain yesterday said the students have shown how movements can be carried out without leaders.
He was addressing a discussion titled “Duty of People to Establish Effective Democracy” organized by Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, a citizen's platform, at the Jatiya Press Club.
“Students have shown us how to overcome fear. How under everyone's leadership movement can be waged against the government,” he said, calling upon people to unite to bring change in the country's politics.
Kamal Hossain, also convener of Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, suggested citizens to go to their home districts to unite people.
He said, “As per constitution, you are the owner of the country. You don't need to look forward to a leader because each one of you is a leader.”
Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury said the government has failed to ensure equal rights for the people of the country.
Criticising the government for its role during the student's movement, he said, “Let us speak, no rumour will spread. If you don't let us speak, rumour will spread.”
Engineer M Enamul Haque said the government has failed, and created the recent political crisis.
“We want change in the government but we don't want to see BNP-Jamaat in its helm either,” he added.
Among others, Mostafa Amin of Jatiya Oikya Prokriya spoke.
