Nat'l cricketer Mosaddek sued over dowry
A case was lodged with a Mymensingh court yesterday against cricket player of the Bangladesh national team, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat.
Saikat's wife Samina Sharmin Samia lodged the case with the Cognizance Court-1 of Mymensingh, accusing Mosaddek and his mother Parul Begum.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Rozina Khan accepted the case and ordered women's affairs official of Mymensingh sadar upazila to investigate, said Rezaul Karim Khan Dulal, who pleaded for the complainant.
Mosaddek married his cousin Samia some six years ago. He had been making demands but they could not meet up the demand due to financial constraints, alleged Samia, a final year student of BA class.
Saikat demanded Tk 10 lakh on August 15 to start a business, she added.
Refuting the allegations, the cricketer said, “I divorced her nine days ago. Her allegation is entirely false. The case was filed to humiliate me socially and tarnish my reputation.”
