Man held with 5000 yaba pills

Officials of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) yesterday arrested an alleged drug peddler with 5000 yaba pills worth Tk 15 lakhs from Bakalia area in the port city yesterday.

The arrestee was identified as Faridul Alam, 38, hailing from Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar, said Shamim Ahamed, deputy director of DNC Chittagong zone.

Acting on a tip off, DNC officials arrested Faridul in Mariners’ road area with the contrabands in his possession, said Shamim Ahamed, adding that the drugs were recovered from his pocket wrapped inside a polybag.

The arrestee was handed over to police and a case was filed with the Bakalia Police Station in this regard, Shamim added.
