Chhayanaut stages Borsha Utshab
Artistes of Chhayanaut render a chorus.
Cultural organisation Chhayanaut, in association with Grameenphone arranged Borsha Utsab to mark the 102nd birth anniversary of Poet Sufia Kamal on Friday evening.
The programme opened with a welcome-speech by the organisation vice- chairman, Sarwar Ali, followed by raga- based song on “Miyan Ki Malhar” by Priyanka Gope. A choral rendition of Tagore song “Esho Shyamalo Sundor” in sync with dance followed.
Khairul Anam Shakil and Nasima Shaheen came on stage with two Nazrul songs-- “Abar Ki Elorey Badol” and “Chanchalo Shyamolo”, while Shuma Rani Roy performed Dwijendralal Ray's “Borosha Ailo Oi.”
Others who sang at the programme were Iffat Ara Dewan, Bizon Chandra Mistry and Laisa Ahmed Lisa.
In the last part of the programme, recitations of Jayanta Ray of “Brishtir Jol” by Jibananda Das, and Zahirul Huq Khan and Shumona Biswas' recitations of Sudhindranath and Tagore poems respectively enthralled the audience. The programme ended with the national anthem.
