Charge acceptance order May 2
International Crimes Tribunal-2 fixed May 2 to decide whether it would accept the war crimes charges against Chowdhury Mueen-Uddin and Ashrafuzzaman Khan.
The three-member panel of ICT-2 led by Justice Obaidul Hassan fixed date on Sunday.
On April 25, the prosecution pressed war crimes charges against Mueen-Uddin and Ashrafuzzaman in connection with the killing of 18 bright minds of Bangladesh at the fag end of the Liberation War.
It brought 16 charges against the suspects, who were, according to post-liberation newspaper reports, two of the most wanted criminals for killing intellectuals.
According to the formal charges, Mueen-Uddin and Ashrafuzzaman, who are in London and New York, were involved in the abduction, torture and killing of the 18 people between December 10 and 15, 1971.
Among the 18, nine were Dhaka University teachers, six were journalists and three were physicians, an investigation agency said.
